The engine behind Slackforce Surfaces builds on the integrations Slack has assembled over recent releases. Once instructed via prompt, the AI assistant scans context from relevant channel history as well as integrated repositories, including Google Drive and the core Salesforce CRM ecosystem.
In one use case showcased by the company, an employee asked Slackbot to create an arcade-themed dashboard visualizing AI token consumption across the organization. Within moments, the assistant generated an interactive board detailing token usage categorized across sales, design, and engineering teams, completely functional inside the chat pane.
The primary value proposition centers on eliminating context switching. As Ryan Gavin, Slack's Chief Marketing Officer, told The Verge via email, users no longer need to export raw data into separate tools to extract insights; instead, they can ask Slackbot to build the report right where the conversation happens, enabling the entire team to inspect and act on the findings collectively.

The introduction of Surfaces marks a clear shift in how generative AI integrates into core business software. With Surfaces, vibe-coding — constructing functional software artifacts by guiding models through conversational instructions — expands beyond dedicated software engineers to non-technical business professionals. Whether building a live monitoring panel for customer support tickets or running scenario models on financial projections pulled from connected services, user interfaces are transitioning from rigid vendor templates into ephemeral tools generated to satisfy a momentary team need.
Governance, Live Data, and Release Schedule
Addressing governance and data protection, Slack specified that Surfaces strictly enforces existing access rights: the agent only retrieves and renders information that the requesting user already has explicit permission to view across connected systems, mitigating unauthorized exposure of confidential company data.
